  1. Finally finished my research into the bonuses granted by all the Creature Egg "Reference" values in each stage of incubation. Rather than hoard the information to myself, here it is in a handy spreadsheet. It's also available in the game in book format on my books vendor.
  2. Here are detailed of how I crafted this level 70 Spined Rancor. My absolute best Mutant Rancor (Very High Quality) DNA combination. Phy + Pro + Men + Psy + Agg = Assembly = Final ^ = Important stats in slot Har 848^ + 838 + 847 + 846 + 838 = 230 = 680 For 770^ + 764 + 761 + 763 + 764 = 179 = 629 End 520 + 516 + 514 + 512 + 514 = 69 = 319 Int 695 + 830 + 828^ + 733 + 810 = 196 = 446 Cle 786 + 788 + 787^ + 791 + 792 = 193 = 443 Dep 513 + 518 + 515 + 511 + 515 = 68 = 218 Cou 519 + 515 + 520 + 514^ + 510 = 69 = 219 Dex 691 + 833^ + 686 + 722 + 735 = 173 = 423 Fie 649 + 643 + 649 + 648 + 650^ = 118 = 649 Pow 821 + 820 + 817 + 816 + 819^ = 213 = 813 Assembly: Great Success Agg 2 (am) -> 2 (am) Men/Phy/Pro 1/1/1 (gr) -> 1/1/1 (am) Phy 1 (am) Psy 1 (am) Agg 81% Men 44% Phy 68% Pro 42% Psy 21% Added 1 more point to Phy because Fort was 447, so close to getting Light Armor rating that I though it was better to take it than to put points into speed. Resulting in Dizzy Strike in special attack 2 only, as expected due to Open Wounds not being supported. Experimentation cost 2,667 credits (444.44 per use * 6) of +17 highway robbery food. Used Genetic DNA Template in Spined Rancor Assembly: Great Success Level: 70 Health: 11,469 Action: 7683 Mind: 8730 Armor Rating: Light Kinetc: 45 Energy: 60 Blast: 25 Heat: 100 Cold: 100 Electricity: 100 Acid: 25 Stun: 25 Lightsaber: Vul Speed: 1.78 To Hit: 0.64 Damage: 695-700 Special 1: --- Special 2: Dizzy Strike Ranged: No Total Assembly cost 2,667 credits (1,333.33 per use * 2) of +16 highway robbery food. Neither gave an amazing result and my assembly is high enough to prevent getting anything lower than great success, so this stuff is just a waste of money. Incubation: Stage 1: 22% To Hit Stage 2: +20 Kinetic Resist Stage 3: 22% To Hit Final Modded Stats: Kinetic: 65 To Hit: 0.95 I went with this combination for incubation, because Kinetic Resist is the main one for pets and missing an attack does 0 damage. I felt these changes would make the most difference in the long term.
  3. After much testing, here is how to (and how NOT to) craft a pet with the highest possible HAM and damage (at the cost of your choice of special attacks). Gather 5 Very High Quality DNA Samples from Mutant Rancor (They are the only level 75 critter in the game 😥). If you're a real stickler for details, only use DNA with 820+ Hardiness/Power/Intellect, 635+ Fierceness, 765+ Fortitude, 520 Courage so you can max the sats. Get a Bio-Engineer crafting suit with 12 experimentation points / 25 assembly, stand in a manufacturing city, use both "assembly roll" and experimentation food/drink, and a crafting tool as close 15 quality as possible. You NEED to get 1 amazing on damage and 2 amazings on HAM to max damage and beat 500 Fortitude for armor, so food/drink *might* help some (but it's totally unreliable, so be prepared to be stuck with a DNA Template that doesn't do what you want it to do). Craft a Genetic Template with 6 points in Aggression (2->2->2) and 2 points each into Mental, Physique, Prowess (1/1/1->1/1/1). Incubate the pet deed to add the Light Armor Rating, +22% To Hit, and +20 Kinetic Resist. Reference values for these are below (per my testing). You can only pick one stat per stage, so pick the Reference values that are you can hit using the enzymes you have on hand. Always use 10 Purity Hydrolase to ensure the bonus is the one you want rather than a randomly selected bonus! If you're happy with the To Hit and Kinetic, any other two incubation bonuses would be fine (+4% Damage twice is kinda lame, because it's such a small bonus, but it would technically give you the highest possible damage at approx 752-757). Here's a comparison of putting 6 points into HAM vs. 5 points into Attack Speed and 1 point into Health. Creature Egg Crafting Values Stage 1: Light Armor = 3 Reference 22% To Hit = 25 Reference 20 Kinetic Resist = 18 Reference Stage 2: Light Armor = 21 Reference 22% To Hit = ?? - I haven't found this one yet! 20 Kinetic Resist = 26 Reference Stage 3: Light Armor = 26 Reference 22% To Hit = 17 Reference 20 Kinetic Resist = 16 Reference If you're familiar with the documentation on Bio-Engineered pets that were created in the original version of the game, the top end pets in SWGEmu and here on Tarkin's Revenge are not the same. In original "Pre-CU", using 5 VHQ Mutant Rancor DNA would have created a level 80 something pet with over 15k HAM and 1000+ min damage. Of course, any pet higher than level 70 isn't even usable by a Creature Handler, so there wasn't much point in doing so. That said, it is true that the best level 70 pets in "Pre-CU" had more HAM (at least 10K) and did a bit more damage than what we can create here on Tarkin's Revenge, however our incubation system and mods to the speed, hit, and damage calculations come reasonably close - a level 63-66 pet with max damage and the max possible HAM will be pretty good against all enemies that don't have Armor Piercing weapons. So while they're not the same, they're really not bad. Hope this helps! Ps. I created a calculator in html/javascript for generating Reference values with enzyme combinations. I don't have anywhere to host it, so I attached it to this post. calc.html

  5. 8 months later and I haven't gotten around to reading any of the books and I haven't played much SWG either. I spent much of my "free time" playing No Man's Sky, which is a pretty nifty, if lonely game. Anyway, I hope start reading some of books in the coming years. 🙂
  6. Having put the effort into making the mods, many moons ago as a labor of love, I am compelled to remind everyone that the following activities all grant Wilderness Survival XP on Tarkin's Revenge: Hunting Missions - Explorer Terminals (very generous) Camping Crafting camps Fishing Foraging Medical Foraging (gives a bit of healing xp too!) Searching lairs Milking creatures (also very generous) Harvesting shellfish
  7. Love the "Rebel Flight Suits" color theme. It's too bad that the in game browser only works for the NGE client, because it that page would make a mighty fine in game home page! 🙂
  8. I just want to say thank you for not just finishing what I started, but taking the concept and improving upon it immensely. I didn't have it in me to slog through all the work and there were some things I just couldn't figure out how to accomplish. You did it. you're awesome, thank you! 🙂 Ps. I recommend not reading the source code for this system and ruining the mystery of it all for yourself. This is probably the most interesting new game play system created for a SWGEmu based server, so I implore folks to enjoy the journey of learning it. Pps. Anyone can also use a DNA Extraction Device (Crafted by Bio-Engineers) to collect DNA samples (1 per dead creature) that will definitely be in demand as Bio-Engineers churn through pet deeds!

  10. One thing I noticed while I was out and about in the game, the "Mission Available" criteria is a bit misleading. I assumed that it meant I could go to a terminal and take missions for that exact creature type, but it turns out that's not the case. What it really means is that the creature has a chance to spawn from a mission generated lair, either as the "boss mob" or as an alternate version of the creature. So if you're out there looking for a mission for particular creature and you're not seeing it's name show up on the terminal, try taking missions for creatures from the same family in the same level range. If you're desperate to know for certain the exact missions you can take to find the creature, the data can be found in the lair templates, which are fairly self explanatory and easy to read.
  11. I have completed the advanced search functionality, so all that is left to do is take 50 bajillion screenshots of the creatures! I'm not sure when it will go live, but it's functionally complete at this point. Repo is here.
  12. Quick update: I just finished the input/output structure and of the advanced search. The next step is to program the "build-a-query" for it and then it's onto the final step of taking screenshots of all the critters!
  13. I've been working on a web page make it easier to use the data. Here are some screenshots. I still have a fair amount of it data wrangling to do, but this what it will look like for the most part (aside from the Advanced Search option that I haven't started yet). When it's finished, it will be hosted here on tarkinswg.com.
  14. Notes: You do not get the deed back should you choose to destroy the structure. This is due to how the buildings are placed in the world by an admin (no deed is associated with them). There isn't an automated option to sell the structure back to the Imperial Housing Authority; Once you buy a structure, it's yours to use in that location. You can transfer the ownership to another character using the /transferStructure command as you can with any other structure. The system is really all about "location, location, location" and allowing players to buy the special buildings without requiring the player to wait for a Game Master to help them. There should still be plenty of space in the cities to use deeds the same way as always, though parts of towns that are on strange angles will most likely be populated with IHA buildings, because admins are able to line them up at the correct angles.
  15. Thank you for doing this enormous amount of work! Seriously, that was a crazy amount of effort and dedication. Good Job!
  16. If "removable drive" means "usb stick", then yes, that is totally the problem. Even a USB hard drive is going to considerably slower than if the drive were connected to the internal SATA interface, particularly if Windows keeps letting it go to sleep. Move the game to your internal hard drive and see if that resolves the issue. If your internal hard drive doesn't have enough space, make some space.
  17. Are you using any client side mods, particularly ones that replace the combat music? If so, try removing them. I make this suggestion based up on three things. 1. This issues doesn't happen to the rest of us. 2. There is definitely something wrong with your client (or less likely, Windows). 3. You said the issue happens at the end of combat and the biggest client related thing that happens at that point is the music changes from the repeating combat music file to the end combat music file.
  18. If you're unable to get the launcher to run in Linux using Wine, then you can download all the files required to play the game using the Bash script that I have attached to this comment. 1. Download the script. 2. Open a terminal where the script is saved and type bash linux_downloader.sh The files will be put in ~/tarkinsrevenge When there is an update, generally speaking you will only need to download a new tarkin_custom.tre file. Here is a command to download just that file. wget -c https://tarkinswg.com/tre/patch/tarkin_custom.tre -O ~/tarkinsrevenge/tarkin_custom.tre If you want to download a copy of the current file manifest that includes the file MD5 sums, click here. linux_downloader.sh
  19. Hello and welcome! The Expanded Universe Book Club is all about sharing our experiences, feelings, and ideas in regards to the enormous amount of books, comics, and short stories that are part of the traditional Star Wars "Expanded Universe". We're all friends here, so if you want to share some of your own "fan fiction" or create some new stuff with other members of the community, by all means go for it, that's what the club is for! Have a favorite character or story line you just can't get enough of? Tell us all about it! Maybe you have a fond memory or two that you'd like to share? We're all ears! If you're looking for more information about what books are available, probably the best place to look on the Internet would be http://www.starwarstimeline.net/ , created by Joe Bongiorno, because it has virtually every bit of information one could want about nearly every Star Wars publication. Otherwise, check out your local library, used book stores, and comic book shops, as you're bound to find some Star Wars books there and possibly other people to enjoy them with too. Over time I will compile a list of books, stories, and comics that relate to the timeline in which Tarkin's Revenge takes place. I will post the list here so that everyone who's interested can easily know what to look for. By all means, let me know you're favorites! Along those lines, we hope to bring some of the Expanded Universe characters and story lines into the Tarkin's Revenge game play experience and this is the place where we can all discuss what would be fun to have in the game. May the Force be with you!
